Every year the number of students appearing for the NEET exam has been increasing while on the other hand, the seats available are decreasing. This makes the competition even more stringent than it was the last year. There are also some changes proposed by the NTA that NEET could be conducted online, which is a significant change from the student's perspective.

So, let's start and face the challenge of NEET.

There are a few steps that you need to take to get a good score in NEET about 650+ and score well in boards at the same time. I’ll list them according to their importance.

  1. Prepare a Study Plan

The syllabus of NEET has over 100 chapters from Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, so if you start to dedicate around 8 hours a day for your preparation, then you will have more than 20+ hours per chapter. But you need to strategize them and spend time on topics according to the difficulty of the chapters. This calls for a well-stipulated study plan in which you prepare until December end and then start Revision from the next year.

2. Set and Follow a routine

Develop a routine that suits you both mentally and physically. Divide your day into sections and assign yourself work according to your capability. In some chapters, you may need more time while others in some. But do study regularly as missing one day breaks the flow, and you restart from square one.

3. Right Choice of Books and Teachers

Most of the syllabus is based purely on NCERT and completing the NCERTs on both 11th and 12th is a must. You also need to solve as many MCQ books as possible like Dinesh, etc. which you can get your hands on. Many questions come from these books. For physics, HC Verma and objective questions should be done, and for Chemistry, NCERT along with ML Aggarwal, OP Tandon, and objective questions should do the trick. The biology section comes entirely from NCERT, so learning that is a must along with objective questions. Your tutor plays a vital role in your preparation, study from the teacher with whom you are most comfortable.

4. Practise Daily

Subjects like Physics require a lot of practice and patience before the concepts can be interrelated to solve a question. Do not be disheartened if you do not get it in the first try. Remember, practice makes perfect. Do practice at least 30 questions of physics every day and 15 chemistry questions on salts and inorganic chemistry to help retain the formulas and their applications. This will improve your speed and accuracy.

5. Make Handwritten Notes

This is the most crucial part of your study, especially for chemistry and biology. You need to remember a lot of things in a reaction so that you know how it conceptually works. The named reactions are the most frequently asked questions in Chemistry along with some portions of Organic Chemistry. You need to write and practice them every day if you want to recall them during the exam. This is the most scoring section of chemistry. The same is with biology you need to practice diagrams and make notes of whatever you are studying for faster recall.

6. Solve Previous Years Paper and Mock Tests

You need to solve the previous years of at least five years to gauge the level of questions and the difficulty of the exam. Place yourself in an exam like environment and time yourself. After you complete a chapter take a short test on that chapter so that your concepts are ingrained thoroughly. This will help you realize where you are lacking. Taking a mock test series online will help immensely as they provide a detailed analysis of your paper, which comes in handy during revision.

7. Revision

You need to have at least two months for revision as you will be covering your 11th syllabus chapters along with the 12th class. This is not an easy task. Always keep your notes ready as the recall time needed from your notes is far less than the time from rereading the book. Your test paper solutions and analysis will help you know your weaker topics, and you can then choose to either put more effort into them and if you find that a topic is not worth the effort then do not give it another shot, remember you have 100 topics to cover. Always be attentive and full of concentration when you start revision or else it will result in nothing.

Following this, along with your hard work rather smart work will get you a great score and a college of your choice.

Stay Calm and Study Hard.
